This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) forms part of the OpenQR.io Terms and Conditions. It applies to every QR code, short link, redirect destination, landing page, file and other content you create, upload or link to using the Services (“Your Content”).

Prohibited destinations and content. You may not use the Services to create, link to, redirect to, or host:

  • phishing pages or any page designed to collect login credentials, payment details or personal data under false pretences;
  • malware, viruses, spyware, ransomware, unwanted software, or links that trigger automatic downloads;
  • scams, fraud, fake shops, fake giveaways, investment or cryptocurrency schemes, or any other deceptive content;
  • content that impersonates another person, brand or organisation, or misrepresents your affiliation with them;
  • content or activities that are illegal under the laws of the European Union, or under the laws that apply to you or to the people your QR codes and links are aimed at;
  • content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights, including publishing someone’s personal data without consent;
  • content that threatens, harasses, or incites violence or hatred against people or groups;
  • sexually explicit content shared without the consent of the people depicted.

Prohibited behaviour. You may not:

  • hide a destination by chaining it through another URL shortener, redirect service, or open redirect;
  • change the destination of an existing code to prohibited content after it has been created or shared;
  • use the Services for spam or unsolicited bulk messages;
  • try to evade our security checks, for example by showing different content to our scanners than to real visitors;
  • create new accounts to get around a suspension.

Enforcement. If we reasonably believe Your Content breaks this Policy, or if a destination is flagged by a security service, we may immediately and without prior notice disable the affected QR codes and links, remove content, or suspend or terminate your account. Disabled dynamic codes stop redirecting, including codes you have already printed. We will tell you by email what action we took and why, unless the law prohibits it or doing so would help the abuse continue. Accounts terminated for breaking this Policy are not entitled to a refund.

Reporting abuse. Anyone can report a QR code or link that breaks this Policy by emailing [email protected]. Please include the QR code URL and a short explanation. We review reports promptly and act on clear phishing or malware as a priority.

Appeals. If you think we acted by mistake, reply to our notice or email [email protected] within 6 months. We will review the decision and tell you the outcome.

Changes. We may update this Policy. The current version is always published on this page.
